Veteran lyricist Nilar N. Cassim has been appointed as the new President of the Authors Composers & Publishers Organization of Sri Lanka (ACPOSL). Artists Keerthi Pascual, Sunil R Gamage, Samantha Perera, Bhathia Jayakodi, Ranga Dasanayake and Raj Thilleyanpalam have been appointed as its board of directors. A collective association shall have full power to collect the royalties payable on broadcasting of songs on electronic media and public performances in Sri Lanka. ACPOSL is one such collective association.

This association consists of Sri Lankan song writers, music directors and music publishers. And it is done in agreement with the World Intellectual Property Organization based on its criteria.

According to the World Intellectual Property Organization, a country can have only one collective association. Accordingly, ACPOSL is the only collective association in this country. Its activities are overseen by the Intellectual Property Office.

W.B. Ganegala, a former Secretary of the Ministry of Mass Media, was the chairman of this organization earlier.
